The incomparable elegance of the Procter mansion, infused with the European charm and hospitality of Innkeepers Fabrizio and Rosemary Chiariello will surely enchant you. Located in the heart of Lenox, Massachusetts, in the Berkshire Hills, the Gateways Inn offers a perfect getaway, for any occasion. 

The Inn’s twelve guestrooms, recently restored, are each uniquely inviting.  Choose from rooms with queen or king-sized beds, romantic canopies, brass, or sleigh beds, and fireplaces. The restaurant, among the finest in Lenox, offers a distinctive mixture of ambience and taste for the discerning. The new enclosed terrace awaits those who prefer dining al fresco in summer. Lunch and after theater ('till midnight) light fares are offered Tuesday through Sunday. Relax and enjoy the ambience of the snug bar with friends and an after-theater or post-concert coffee, cappuccino, dessert or cocktail. Sip one of 94+ Single Malts or other variety of liquors that make the bar one the most famous in the State.

Room rates range from $100 to $425 depending on season.

The Berkshire Room

Feel the romance and charm of this first floor room with its queen-sized canopy bed. The floral bedding and the Georgian-style dresser evoke the feeling of old Colonial Williamsburg. Oversized windows with cream and floral print silk drapes create a light and airy feel to the room. There’s even an antique stepstool for entering the raised bed! A gas fireplace completes the warm feeling. The compact bathroom has a stall shower.

The Procter Room

Facing the back garden, the Procter Room is
appropriately decorated in a floral garden print of
mauve and beige tones. This first floor room is awash with morning sun, and the side faces the terrace. The king-sized, four-poster canopy bed makes for sweet dreams. The gas fireplace is great
for wintry nights. The bathroom features a full bathtub with shower.

The Arthur Feidler Suite 

This suite, the most luxurious of rooms, features a
large sitting room and a very spacious bedroom
separated by French doors hung with Venetian lace curtains. Both rooms feature a gas-fired fireplace. Antique sage walls invite serenity and elegance throughout the suite. From the French Aubusson print bedding and the antique armoire in the bedroom to the plush deep-green sofas and the Mahogany library with dry-bar, the Suite is a subtly luxurious room. The bathroom, with the original corner marble sink, Italian marble-tiled floor, a large tub with Jacuzzi, adjoining dressing room and plush white terry robes, evokes a spa-like experience.


The Orleton Room

Themes of an English foxhunt adorn this second-floor room.Tally-ho! Rich green tones are the primary colors, with Ralph Lauren bed linens. The bed is a king-sized spindled sleigh bed. The bathroom features an oversized bathtub with hand-held shower.

The Rose Room

Aptly named the Rose Room, king-size-bed room
has a decor motif of roses, soft pink Matlesse bedding, and the white sponge-painted furniture ensemble round out the light, garden-like atmosphere of the room. A corner gas fireplace lends a cozy feeling in winter. The bathroom features a large glass-walled shower and pedestal sink.

The Cozy Room

The queen-sized brass bed, the low antique pine dresser and the charming country quilt create an airy ambience in this truly cozy room. The Inn's smallest and most gently priced room, the Cozy Room is perfect for guests searching for a one-night stay, or for those on the go. The bathroom features a stall shower.

The Inverness Room

The Inverness Room transports its guests to ancient Scotland. The Tudor-style, queen-sized canopy bed, with a high wooden headboard and carved posts at the  foot, is quite spectacular. Rich jewel-toned bedding makes one feel regal indeed. The ample bathroom, with pedestal sink, has a stall shower.

The Romeo & Giulietta

With its deep blue and gold floral print walls, plush carpet and sumptuous king-sized sleigh bed, this spacious room offers a subtle elegance and  tranquility. The corner gas fireplace adds a romantic warmth. The overhead skylight brightens with morning sun and glows with evening stars. The star-crossed lovers of long ago were sure to have found romance here. The full bathroom has both tub and shower. 
 

Dining

The restaurant at the Gateways Inn is among the finest in Lenox. Beveled glass French doors open into the spacious main dining room, with its deep terra cotta painted walls, hung with antique French and Italian prints. This 3-Star restaurant exudes both luxury and comfort amid linen-covered tables, silver candlesticks, flowers of the season, and  classical or modern music softly playing in the background. Choose the larger main dining room or the more intimate Rockwell Room for your dining experience.

The extensive wine list, designed particularly to accompany your meal selections, features primarily American and Italian wines. From sophisticated limited releases to delightfully pleasant table wines, there are choices that will surely meet your desires. The menu, featuring American cuisine with International influences, changes seasonally. The Innkeepers and culinary team at the Gateways work together with local farmers and dairies to use locally grown and produced foods whenever possible, taking full advantage of the bounty of the Berkshire region.

Directions

From NYC and points south: Take either the Taconic State Parkway North or Route 87 North to I-90 East, the Massachusetts Turnpike, until Exit 2 (Lee). At the end of the ramp, turn right to the town of Lee (Houstonic Street, Route 20). Drive through the town following the signs for Lenox. After a few miles, Route 20 merges with Route 7 North. After the merge stay on the left lane and turn left at the first traffic light onto Walker Street/Route 183 South and proceed to the center of town (about 1 mile) where Gateways is on your right.

From Boston: Take I-90 West until Exit 2 (Lee). At the end of the ramp, turn right to the town of Lee (Houstonic Street, Route 20). Drive through the town following the signs for Lenox. After a few miles, Route 20 merges with Route 7 North. After the merge stay on the left lane and turn left at the first traffic light onto Walker Street/Route 183 South and proceed to the center of town (about 1 mile) where Gateways is on your right.
