During your time at the Gateways Inn in Lenox, MA you’ll experience some of the finest food and beverages in the Berkshires and there are several Berkshire wineries worth visiting. You won’t have to go very far to enjoy yourself, as our onsite Restaurant and Lounge are among the top destinations for dining and socializing. Our bar is recognized as one of the best in the region, boasting a collection of over two hundred different kinds of whiskey, a generous wine cellar and variety of liquors and drinks that is without competition.
But, if you have the urge to sample more of the area’s wines during the day, there are several nearby Berkshire wineries that have tasting rooms. To sample the wines that our region has to offer, attend a tasting at these Berkshire wineries. We proudly serve most of these in our bar as well.
Located on the historic Hilltop Orchards property, Furnace Brook Winery has more to offer than a sizable selection of whites and reds. Due to its relation to Hilltop Orchards, Furnace Brook also offers pressed ciders, including the award-winning Johnny Mash Original American Cider. The tasting room is open seven days a week from 9am-5pm. And if you’re looking to make your day about more than just wine tasting, Hilltop Orchards has famous baked goods, grounds for hiking and apple picking.
Another of the Berkshire wineries you may want to visit is Balderdash Cellars in Pittsfield. Balderdash Cellars has a tasting room that is open on the weekends from 1-5 pm. The boutique winery produces premium wines using grapes from California vineyards. Their wines are what a New Englander may call “wicked” in their high quality and the owners of the winery have come up with a few embellished tales for the origins of each of their wines. Because nothing complements a fine wine like a tall tale. They have a selection of whites, reds and roses to suit many palates. Their “Truth Serum” wines are the most select and are released for limited periods of time after production, so if you see one during your visit, be sure to get a bottle.
Les Troise Emme is located in nearby New Marlborough. The rural setting of the winery makes for an enjoyable experience during a day trip. In addition to the tasting room, you can tour the facilities and as they put it, “find out as much or as little as you would like about the process of making wine.” Les Trois Emme has a selection of wines including whites, reds, and blends. Their Cayuga White is popular for its sweetness and is similar to a Riesling. Other wines offered include: Kiyo’ Sparkling Wine, Nick Jackson Blush, Old Vine Zinfandel, Shiraz-Cabernet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Berkshire Red, and the award winning Stingy Jack Pumpkin Wine.
When planning your tours of these Berkshire wineries, don’t forget to book your stay at the Gateways Inn. Our selection of wines has earned Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence”, so you’re certain to find the perfect wine to suit any palate. And if wine isn’t your drink of choice, you’ll be impressed by our collection of Single Malt Scotch, which you can try in special “Single Malt Flights” to find a favorite and expand your tastes. We also carry a variety of beers both imported and domestic, some from breweries right here in the Berkshires.
After an evening in our Restaurant or Lounge, there is no better place to retire than one of our elegantly appointed guest rooms. Our accommodations seamlessly join the charm of the past with the conveniences of modern amenities. Come to the Gateways Inn and experience the true essence of the Berkshires. We’ll see you soon!
